quote-of-the-day
(Found here) "I don’t have a boyfriend right now. I’m looking for anyone with a job that I don’t have to support. - Anna Nicole Smith” (Daily quote.)

Ed's personal blog corner

The quote made me wonder, isn't it a bit late to save ANS from being laid on Bahama soil?

On a cable "news" program, there was a report on internet-based child abuse. The usual suspects, MySpace and pedophiles reared their ugly heads, held responsible for all the ills of the internet. Obviously both these elements are a menace, but I blame Google! No search, no results, no inappropriate discoveries.

Being serious for just one moment, in the scheme of things, there are hundreds of millions of innocent or appropriate on-line conversations conducted daily. Only the media could build the miniscule percent of nasty incidents into a major brouhaha about internet dangers. And anywhere, where are the parents? Or is the news team responsible for protecting kids ahead of mom and pop? Hopefully not. The media are the biggest menace out there!

The media in the UK scared parents into thinking that any kid who walked to school would be abducted and murdered without mercy. The school bus became popular as a result. But that mode of transport went to pot when a kid was abducted between the bus stop and school. As a result, the school run in cars became the de facto way to get to school. Now, hassled late-for-work mothers are maiming, and killing more kids than ever got abducted by sickoes.
