Ed the Editor's authority posts

After reading many wise words from Courtney Tuttle, who advocates Growth For Persistent, Intelligent People, I am going to compile a list of my best posts, or as he calls them, authority posts - the stuff that shows people what Ed can do! With 800 articles to choose from there have to be one or two decent examples. First, tech, followed by quirky and then world news stories.

Tech authority posts

MyBlogLog Sunday mini reviews - Plenty of bloggers do mini reviews, but you may be surprised at how much witty info is packed into the 2 lines allocated to each of the 10 blogs highlighted every Sunday morning.

Zwinky - I have a blast satirising the avatar that drags MySpace users into the realms of surreal personalised tackiness.

Solo SEO - the missing MyBlogLog Tools This post provoked a response from Mr Solo SEO that blew me away. When was the last time a developer gave you the step by step solution to a problem?!

Is your blog banned in China? A politically incorrect post about the Great Firewall of China.

Resource box for scams

A home to articles about Nigerian scammers who try to steal financial resources from the pockets of both honest and stupid folks. Invariably the scammers are the most stupid.

Carolyn, Caronly, just give me money

This letter was from Carolyn, yet another scammer who can't spell basic words, like her name! After detailed explanations of her circumstances, Carolyn concludes

I will like to hear from you soon. God Bless you.
N.B Any amount of money the both of us spend In clearing theconsignment I will pay you In double after we have cleared the consignment. Have a nice day. Thank you,

Mrs Caronly Sidney

No work ethic, these scammers, they don't even bother spell-checking. Next!

Nigerian scams only get dummies

There was a good comedy sketch last night where an angry "Iranian" guy was ripping into Nigerian scams. As he rightly pointed out, if the con guy has the ability to accumulate $50m in a bank, he would never be in Nigeria in the first place.

The punchline was the picture of a scammer. Not the stereotypical big, gold-ringed African, but a flabby white trailer trash guy from Arkansas. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Exposé of a con from Nigeria

The unsolicited email started like this.

Dear Sir.

My name is Mr. Ken Smith based in London; I am the Attorney of the Late Mrs. Stella Obasanjo, the wife of the Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo. Mrs. StellaObasanjo just died on the early hours of Sunday 23rd October 2005 in a hospital in Spain where she went for a surgical operation.

Sorry to hear Stella is dead. But what do you mean by just dead? One year ago isn't just anything! But maybe with the 30-year top secrets act imposed in many countries, we shouldn't be so amazed at why important news like the death of a President's wife should travel so slow.

Apart from that time-frame blooper, your introduction in this con letter sounds credible so far ie that she died where she did is understandable. The Spanish Health care system is a much better provider than the Nigerian National health Service, or the UK NHS, or the US excuse for a health service or...
