Comcast craptastic - again

Comcast again prove they are the biggest bunch of time-wasting arrogant shites you never want to do business with. The phone, the final third of our internet/cable/digital voice package was installed today, 3 weeks after the first couple went on line. Yeehah, plop.

Comcast techies are amazing!

Some mouthy kid with a holster full of tools swaggered into our house and gave us an ultimatum. I put it there in the lounge and you have one phone outlet only, or I put it there in the kitchen for whole house phone service, but I'll cut the cord to Verizon. Take your choice. Excuse me, punk?

Eventually he became polite and did what he had to do, and buggered off home. We ran some errands and got home later tonight and turned on the tube. Nothing. Unbeknown to us, he had left us without any TV signal. So no change there, only two out of three services.

Comcast don't allow their techies to phone out?

After making a phone call to HQ, a helpful but full-of-crap woman said she could see a proper signal her end, so would have a techy call us back within an hour with a solution for our "faulty" modem. 30 seconds later the red light appeared on the TV topbox, and the internet signal died. No shit! They had just flipped the switch at Comcast to activate the TV cable signal (as they should have done hours earlier when the phone guy was there) and jammed the internet part of the modem in the process.

Comcast encourage self support

Knowing how totally unreliable and untrustworthy they can be at Comcast, I wasn't willing to sit like a lemon for a phone call that wasn't coming! I reset the modem and wireless. Everything works and of course, we are still awaiting the phone call to say, "Hey we fucked up, again, valued customer, sorry, have a rebate and Comcastic T-shirt." This post is the only evidence of yet another appalling monopolistic service.

And the joke of it is, Comcast have convinced the world that ADSL is slower than their 100Mb/sec service. Surfing the internet, that simply is not true, folks. Be it cable or a decent ADSL service, pages pop up at the same speed. The only advantage for Comcast is downloading. If you are not a heavy bit torrent user, don't get suckered into the myth. 1 or 2Mb/sec is plenty fast enough.
