HP dominant market share in S. America - the downside
05 Mar 07 Filed in:Printers
According to our South American connections, HP are pulling ahead in the market share figures by a not inconsiderable margin. They now have 15% of the market! But beware of statistics. What HP fail to mention is their market leadership in the field of returned printers.
85% of poor Latin American families with Macs are refusing to put up with yet another crap hand dealt them by the United States. On discovering no drivers for the scanner, and unwilling to blow 5000 pesos on 3rd party software just so their machine will actually work, they are sending back their HP PSC 1510 All-in-one printers in droves. Hey papá, se puede devolver esta puta mácina? Sí, vamonos!
Sharp entrepreneurial types are now walking up and down the returns queues in HP stores, selling all sorts of fast food, live chicken of the VNC and iPod ponchos to impatient unhappy customers.
