Mr Rant review
Feb/07 Filed in: Mr rant

Mr Rant is a British, presumably male ranter, who seems to have a great eye for detail and good grasp of UK mindsets. From TV to childhood ponderings, he has an informed red, white and blue opinion, with a great sense of humor - and that is what the best blogging is all about, if you ask me.
The layout is clean and easy to navigate, I think. At least, I found the posts he has written with consummate ease. But then that leads on seamlessly to Mr rant's failing grace.
Just like Faulty Towers, the only thing wrong with this blog is the lack of content. Work harder matey, and come up with some weekly posts to better engage us humor and satire desperadoes. Everyone a winner.

How to add your blog to a swicki search engine
Feb/07
A cool alternative to directories is Swicki. Swicki is a search engine-encyclopedia. It is easy to create a custom entry for Swicki search results that include your blog. It is collaborative too! This is what I wrote for Norman Roberts Swicki result Try it!
* Go to the Pisstakers Swicki and put the name of your blog in the search box.
* Click on Search and just like Google, the search results will appear.
* Immediately below the search box click on "Write Your own result"
* In the lightbox that appears add your info/bio and even specify a URL. When someone does a swicki search and your blog appears in the results it will include your custom info.

Abandon All Fear, the superhero returns
Feb/07 Filed in: Abandon all fear

Thanks to a long time off-line, Abandon all Fear's author, and UK blogger extraordinaire, Alex Fear, has had time to reflect. Not only has he kicked a couple of ISP providers into touch, he has decided to adopt a comic approach to his blogging. Before you think, Euhh, that's not for me, there are no speech bubbles, and it is not the Beano.
When you land on the AAF main page, it is more like Marvel, and then only in a light hearted theme kind of way that disappears once you get inside the blog.
Post zero is the first proper post under the new Abandon All Fear regime, and the standard of blogging itself is still very engaging and grown up and even fantastic if you want to get carried away with it all.
It sounds like married life is treating him well, as he still listens to his wife's requests not to spend all bloody day on that bloody computer.
There is a rumor that when he gets to post 3 million he will be in a position to become a full-time superhero and give up blogging. Keep up the good work everybody needs a hero.
Brohans: review
Feb/07 Filed in: Brohans

We found Brohans Video Blog over at the MyBlogLog community, a social networking spot for bloggers. Brohans is one of the class acts in the humor department, with their witty posts plus relevant Youtube video. (Or is it the other way round?) Either way, from the first impression to the final grin, Brohans is worth a look, and a (free) review.

The Impulsive Buy: review
Feb/07 Filed in: Impulsive buy

The Impulsive Buy claims to put the "ew" in reviews of foodstuffs, snacks and miscellaneous household products. If you look at the easy-to-read type face, lots of color, pleasant layout, plus an adept writer, the blog has all the elements of an engaging and amusing port of call for internet users. It succeeds, to a degree, but overall, it is more "eh?" then "ew".

Extra Life Radio review
Feb/07 Filed in: Extra Life Radio

Scott Johnson is a multi-talented comic strip writer, blogger, podcaster and funny guy. He is also open-minded (or is it mad) and was happy to properly tell his readers about our review of Extra Life Radio. To date, Scott has sent us more traffic than any other site on the internet, and one of his fans wrote a comment about The Pisstakers that really made us smile.
John Chow dot com review
Feb/07 Filed in: John Chow

John Chow has one of the top blogs on the internet. After years of building up to a 200,000 readership, he started to monetize it in September 2006. His figures are impressive, and soon he will be able to fund his expensive tastes just from the income from his blog. One of his many inspired marketing ploys was offering a back link for a review. Read our contribution to John Chow's Technorati success.

DJ Azido master mixer review
Feb/07 Filed in: DJ Azido

DJAzido called by The Pisstakers quite early on in our career and out of curiosity I returned the compliment. Do you remember that program Space 1999, or the James Bond intro with the big circles? When I laid eyes on Azido's site those 70's images flashed straight into my head.

Blog about your Blog competition
Feb/07 Filed in: BAYB
Back in January, the multi-contributor blog, BAYB ran a writing competition. In return for the best adjudged review of a blog outside of their stable, they offered a banner space on their homepage with 1000 free hits.
The Pisstakers won the competition, which, by definition, meant our review of Boags World was a mighty impressive piece of prose! The reality is, although it solicited a response (positive) from Paul Boag himself, it was a winner by default - the champ in a field of one.
No worries, the banner is alive and well and a few of Blog About Your Blog's several hundred visitors per day are clicking through to see what we have to offer.
In true dynamic internet tradition, the boss(es) at BAYB are always coming up with new ways to promote the blog. Comment Friday, link exchanges, adsense, ... There are rumblings of another competition, but we will never be able to win itif anyone else enters.

Bryan C Fleming (How to make a million) is on to something
Feb/07 Filed in: Bryan C Fleming

For the first time ever we made a New Years resolution and pretty much kept to it. Over these last weeks, we have developed a habit to save, and think about expenses. Who knows, we may have even planted some seeds of belief that we can actually achieve the goal - millionairedom.
