Coco Rosie is a trip

I left at fifteen owing to a feeling of alienation caused in part by my reticence toward a formal education. As soon as I was able to garner the necessary means – I sold both day-old flowers in restaurants and expired raffle tickets to the elderly

These are the autobiographical words of one half of the half-Cherokee sisters, Coco and Rosie?

CocoRosie did their growing up in Arizona, living one level below the trailer trash category - in a burnt-out car. Assuming this is true, and not a Vanilla Ice creation, this would cause any self-respecting teenager to rip off old-age pensioners before runniing off to a Parisian attic room to do the Jim Morrisson thing.

Hopefully, though, the CocoRosie sisters' success so far will keep them on the straight and narrow so they can avoid the suicide deal popularised by old Jimbo. A more appealing direction to head is the happy-go-lucky Grace Jones style of life in gay Paris. As they say, it's better to live and die not famous than live longing to die loveless but famous - or thomesing like dat.

The psychedelic Corn on the Cob

This is was what caught our attention initially and drew us in to the Coco Rosie website. But the downside was the wait - several minutes to watch the horrible black timer bar count up from 1 to 100% in 1% increments. Donning my boring critic's hat, because I can't think of a light hearted way to say the following, the graphics were quite engaging and very colorful. Reminded me of a time after an accident when prescription medication brought out all the colours in everything around me. I grew out of it as the drugs wore off, but these girls still see brilliantly.

Can't say the music is good, but neither is it bad. Sort of middle of the road Pink Floyd from the 60's meets Johnny Mellancamp from the time when he was "Cougar". A shame the graphics stop while the music continues. It is by design, because when it stops, it turns like interactive, man, but you only realise that after wondering for a while if the site has gone pear-shaped. Shame, because there are some clever effects when you do click in anguish.

And it is doubly troubling that you don't know whether to click or run, because the money-spinning part of their site relies on you clicking through the .graphics. I think Coco Rosie need to add a big, "CLICK HERE S'IL VOUS PLAÎT".

Glad to have clicked, glad to have learnt a little and glad to thank The Green and White Wizard for providing the opportunity to visit website number 55million and twelve.
